Our story!

For several years now I have had the urge to travel which has been a dream of mine before marriage and children. My husband was never keen on the idea until one afternoon in 2016 he said, "let's do this!" The next day I began to sell, donate and give away items from my home. He was a bit shocked when he got home from work. I immediately called a realtor and our home sold within 24 hours for more than we were asking. I had sold, donated and given away EVERYTHING so that the day we moved we didn't even need a truck. We were able to drive away with everything we had left in both our vehicles. We moved to a smaller place directly across from the beach to enjoy the sunrise and sunsets for the following year before taking off to travel full time!

Cozumel, Mexico

Our youngest daughter took me on a cruise on the ship Empress of the Seas to Cozumel, Mexico out of the port of Miami. The weather was fantastic the entire trip, the food was amazing and Cozumel was so much fun!

We had such a great time with her coworkers and I highlighted some of the fun we all had together...

Thankful!

This week we met a couple at our campground that we called “governors” because they took time to visit everyone here. They put together a wonderful Thanksgiving picnic on such a beautiful day! We had wonderful food and fellowship.....it was great to see so many come together. Thank you Rex and Diane for your kindness and generous hearts.

Artwork on the Road!

I love that we are traveling. I love that I have more time to work creatively. The one thing I have in common with my grandkids is the love of creativity. When I work on a project it makes me feel more connected to them because I miss them so much. My husband and I fell in love with upcycling after our first visit to Seaside, Florida in the early 90’s. We began making furniture and many other things from nothing. I especially love upcycling creatively as in this video. Most of all I love the outdoors being my new art studio!

Taking A Break!

So many people have asked why haven't created any new videos or updated our travel blog? It is only because we have been visiting so many family and friends this past year. It is easy enough to do when we are on the road by ourselves but I don't ever want to take the time that we have when we are with others. It has been another incredible year together going to all the many places that we have had the privilege to explore. We feel like two kids living in a fort and opening the door to new adventures every day!

We have nieces and nephews who have made our journey even more remarkable by spending time with us and taking us places that we would not have been able to on our own. The memories that we have made these past few years have been so full of laughter and joy! We still feel the same excitement the day we left our home of 40 years and moved into the beach house on the coast of Florida.

Every night we thank the Lord for our time with others and our time together! We are reminded that the doctors said Jimmy would not live to see these years but God saw differently. We don't take this time together for granted at all....

The holidays are coming and we will be back home with more family and friends but we are planning to make time to document online our adventures! Thank you to all of you have joined us online to see where we are and what we are up to.....you all encourage us so much and we thank you!!!!

Travel Tips

Visiting Portugal

We flew to Lisbon, Portugal on our favorite airline Tap Portugal from Newark Airport. Somehow we ended up having 2 seats each available to us so that made the 6 hour trip even more comfortable. This was our first visit to Lisbon and we did not know anyone there.

Once we left the airport there were plenty of opportunities for a taxi or a bus right outside the door. We decided to take the bus since there were plenty of people there to assist us with information on which bus to get on and they spoke English very well. The bus driver also spoke English and made sure we got off at the right stop which was very helpful.

We chose a hotel from google maps and Expedia that had great reviews and we were not disappointed. Eurostar’s Lisboa Parque Hotel Link. The room was huge and very clean. The bed was so comfortable that we slept very soundly. We cannot say enough about the service there and it was near cafes and restaurants that were within walking distance.

One of the main lessons we have learned in traveling is to always do the bus or trolley rides that are hop on hop off. First we ride around the entire city and then decide what we want to do. It makes it so much easier to plan and make better use of our time. We never plan to get in as much as possible because we always plan to return. Instead we choose one or two things to do and enjoy in its entirety.

The hop on hop off bus was within walking distance of our hotel.  It took us to the old city with architecture dating back to the 1500’s and breathtaking views of the sea. The food was wonderful and a great place to have cod or sardines.

The coffee is one of my favorites in Portugal because of its rich and robust flavor. My favorite place for coffee and a light lunch or dinner was Restaurante A Gama do Vasco. The service was incredible and the atmosphere delightful. It was a favorite of the locals and visitors of the area which we learned from talking to those we met there. They have a Facebook page to show the foods they prepare.

Across the street from the coffee house was a cozy and romantic dinner place called Barlotti. The food was excellent and we highly recommend to visit if you are in Lisbon. Look for them on Facebook under Barlotti Lisboa to get an idea of their decor and menu. It was within walking distance from the hotel which made it even better for us.

Portugal is a wonderful place to visit and easy because so many speak English! We plan to return again next year and spend a little more time to repeat all the places we visited and to discover new places too.

Traveling through the Bayou & A Wedding! Vlog 22

What a beautiful drive along the gulf we had going through Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana. Mile after mile of road going through the bayou is something to see. The food begins to change flavors with so many unique flavors. One of Jimmy's favorite things to try was a stuffed deep fried avocado. He has shared that experience with everyone he has spoken to because the flavor was so unforgettable.

Our trip to Delaware, Vlog 20

Family, food and fun is the best way to describe our trip to Delaware. Our nieces and nephews always bring smiles to our hearts and we are grateful for ALL of them.
